UPM Investiga 2026: AI and Digitalization

Overview

UPM Investiga 2026 – the first global research fair organised by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) – took place on March 18–19, 2026 at the Central de Diseño in Matadero Madrid. The event aimed to bring UPM’s research activity closer to society while fostering cooperation with the business sector and public administration, creating a space for the exchange of ideas and new collaboration opportunities.

Members of GRyS (Next Generation Networks and Services Group) participated actively, showcasing their latest advancements in intelligent systems and AI-powered tools within the “AI and digitalisation” booth.

Programme Highlights

The two‑day fair featured:

  • Thematic booths covering AI, digitalisation, advanced manufacturing, biomedicine, energy, and mobility
  • Live demonstrations of research prototypes and technology transfer cases
  • Networking sessions between research groups, companies, and public administrations
  • Workshops on innovation funding and collaborative R&D instruments

GRyS Participation

GRyS participated with a dedicated space within the “AI and digitalisation” booth, demonstrating several technological advancements:

  • Smart Fleet Manager for autonomous vehicle coordination
  • Device for generating prescription maps for precision agriculture
  • Interactive tool for secure natural language querying of databases

The GRyS team members in attendance included Estela and Mario (both at the booth during the event), Xi Tao (assisted on the morning of the first day), and Néstor (present from 15:30 until the end at 22:00 on March 18).

The event provided valuable networking opportunities, with initial conversations already exploring potential synergies with other research groups.
