Are you an Engineering graduate passionate about Semantic Web technologies, Knowledge Graphs, and AI-driven data integration? The Next Generation Networks and Services Group (GRyS) at the Technical University of Madrid (ETSIST-UPM) is seeking a First Stage Researcher (R1) to join the HumAMI Project – Human-inspired Advanced Machine Intelligence for accelerating European AI innovation, cooperation and industrial adoption.

🧠 Main Tasks
- Contributing to the design and development of semantic interoperability frameworks based on ontologies and knowledge graphs for heterogeneous data ecosystems.
- Assisting in the research and implementation of AI agent-based approaches for automated ontology alignment and semantic integration across distributed systems.
- Participating in the design and validation of semantic data management architectures to enable reliable, interoperable information exchange.
- Supporting data engineering activities for the integration, transformation, and semantic enrichment of heterogeneous data sources in AI-driven environments.
🎓 Requirements
- Master’s degree in Engineering (ICT).
- Solid background in Semantic Web technologies (RDF, OWL, SPARQL, SHACL) and ontology engineering methodologies and tools (e.g., Protégé).
- Experience with Knowledge Graph architectures, graph databases/triplestores (e.g., GraphDB, Virtuoso, Neo4j), and semantic data integration/mapping tools (e.g., RML, R2RML).
- Familiarity with AI-driven approaches for semantic integration, such as Multi-Agent Systems, NLP techniques, or ontology alignment algorithms.
- Solid grounding in software engineering practices: UML modelling, simulation, and testing under ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119.
- Strong technical writing, documentation, and presentation skills in English and Spanish.
- Candidates currently enrolled in a PhD in Engineering will be highly valued.
- Demonstrated ability to work on applied research combining software and AI for real-world deployments.
- Capacity to collaborate in multidisciplinary environments and with international research teams.
- Languages: Spanish (Advanced), English (Intermediate).
